This is a very simple bento that was a lot of fun to make. I don't like asparagus, but my husband does so this was all about an excuse to cook him some. The mamenori bow is the best part I think! Here is the video of the making of the bento, pretty much step by step. I skipped all the actual cooking parts because I'm never sure if people want to see those steps or just how things go into the box.

O.k., it looks great for the photo, but now how do you get the lid on? Isn't it supposed to look great for the person who opens the box? How will this look anything other than mashed?
LOL, that's a great question! Okay, there are definitely times when I'm making a bento that I go wild with creative fervor and just pay attention to the pretty factor. Then when I'm finished there is the "Oh crap!" moment. Usually when this happens I can rearrange the contents of the box enough to have it still look pretty but get the lid to fit on. In this particular case I moved the asparagus a tiny bit to lay on top of the rice and broke the garlic crackers a little smaller and nestled the tofu heart down some.
There are also times when I make a bento not for traveling but rather for eating at home - because playing with my food is fun! (Or because I need a pick me up) In those cases the contents go all over the place outside the box with the prettyness because I don't intend to put a top on, I just carry it to the back deck and start noshing.
